Epe Club Has Enhanced Unity Of Purpose In Epe Division - Balogun

The honourable member representing Ibeju-Lekki Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Bayo Balogun, has described the Epe Club as a unifying structure that has engendered unity of purpose in the Epe division.
Responding to questions from newsmen, he spoke on his impact in the National Assembly and also revealed his future prospect for the electorates. Excerpts:

Q: The Epe Club recently inaugurated new executive members, what is your position on this?
A: It is a natural ritual we must do after the expiration of the tenure of the executive members, we need to do the inauguration of newly elected members. The Epe Club has been growing from strength to strength and it serves as a major club in the Epe division that comprises the five Local Government Areas and this has gone a long way in unifying the entire Epe division. We have all the traditional rulers, political office holders, community leaders as members of the club irrespective of their political leaning.
The club created the platform for us to integrate for a common purpose and also synergise on issues of common interest, a new club house, which will be opened hopefully before next year, is undergoing construction.

Q: You have being representing your people in the Green Chambers for six years. Have you been able to attract Federal Government presence to your Federal Constituency?
A: I am an indigene of Ibeju-Lekki Federal Constituency I have no option but to continue to add value to my Federal Constituency and the Epe Division in general. Just recently we completed a market at Eleko which will be given to the people free of charge. We have just completed six blocks of classrooms at Debojo Secondary School, we also have the intention of constructing a residential quarters at the palace of Onisolu also in Lekki LCDA. We will construct 18 classrooms in schools across the constituency. We have the intention of constructing a recreational center in Ibeju-Lekki, which will be called the Ibeju-Lekki Recreational Centre, so that the people can have  their eventsthere. We have been able to attract Federal Government presence to Ibeju-Lekki Local Government as seen in the construction of the Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway which passes through our localities among other inner roads. In the area of empowerment, twenty people will benefit from our transport scheme as Keke Maruwa will be freely given to them.

Others include fifty deep freezers, fifty generators, hair dressing equipment and we will empower the association of butchers with deep freezers so that they could sell meat in an hygienic environment and it is a way to ensure that our people are productively engaged. We will build  additional community markets apart from the ones constructed by developers which are not pocket friendly. In the area of education, we have done a lot to provide funding for the youth to pursue their education careers and we also intend to organise competitions among youth with cash rewards. If you look at the various industries in Ibeju-Lekki like the Deep Seaport and the Dangote refinery, you will agree that they requirescience- related graduates, so we will encourage our youth to study science-related courses.I intend to sponsor a bill that will facilitate the establishment of a Navy School considering the deep water level we have in Ibeju-Lekki.

Q: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be celebrating his second anniversary in office, do we really have the cause to celebrate?
A: From my own point of view the administration of President Bola Tinubu is incomparable with what we have in the past, Nigeria was like a car descending from a mountain before he put stability to it, one of it is the fuel subsidy removal because what was used to subsidise fuel runs into trillions. One other challenge is the dollar exchange rate and he was able to take a bold step towards that direction by creating a stable market. When it comes to infrastructure you can see the ongoing construction works from Lagos to Calabar which is about 700km and that is one of the fastest projects in the country at the moment and a significant aspect of it will be completed before the end of the year. The same thing is applicable to the Sokoto-Abuja Expressway, the road is also being expanded and I can assure you before the end of the year a lot of projects will be scheduled for commissioning. A number of projects will be commissioned in Abuja and there is no state in Nigeria that the Federal Government is not undertaking projects, so there is federal government presence in all the states of the federation.I wish the President the very bests and I will encourage him not to relent towards delivering democracy dividends to the people.
